English Schools’ Swimming Association is excited to announce a new partnership with Hurstpierpoint College, West Sussex to expand the Schools Swimming Super League across England.

By developing new local leagues, we hope to join up with existing school leagues and enable more schools and colleges across the country to have access to this great school swimming opportunity, with the primary focus on maximising participation.

Available for both secondary schools and colleges, with potential to add primary and prep schools in future years.

SSSL Announcement

New for 2025-26

The Schools' Swimming Super League, founded by Hurstpierpoint College, West Sussex allows secondary schools compete locally through a series of rounds before reaching an area final.

Hurstpierpoint have led this league for the last two years, which has grown from strength to strength and we are hoping to allow more schools across the county to enjoy the quality of the program and continue to develop school swimming opportunities.

The league currently runs across three age groups of Junior, Intermediate and Senior (Open) with both girls and boys. We understand that not all schools hold all these age bands or sexes so allow schools to come together to form a team allowing them to compete together. We aim to consolidate existing local schools' leagues that are compatible to enable a national element to the league.

There are up to four rounds, two of which take place in the autumn term (September - December) the remaining two in the spring term (January - March) and the area final taking place before Easter. This enables all events to take place before exam season.

Local schools work together to following a set calendar windows for each round who work together to find a suitable date. Area leaders are provided with electronic documents to co-ordinate the local league.
